What is a Chinafake?
A Chinafake is a product (usually a toy or an electronic device) that is a ripoff of another product or character that became very popular. This wiki focuses on the toy side of Chinafakes.
How to recognize a knockoff toy
Usually, knockoff toys are ripoffs of other toys (mainly popular ones), but can also have their own design. Knockoff toys always play copyrighted songs (mainly Europop ones), come in cheap plastics, and have colourful lights. Most of the toys that fall under this category are bump n go's and they can also be considered dangerous because of their amount of lead paint and/ have unhealthy amounts of oil or grease or small parts that can break easily, though, it seems like nowadays, knockoff toys have become a little bit safer. Another way to recognise a knockoff toy is its box: knockoff toys' boxes are always full of typing/grammar mistakes (popular example: the phrase "It will give you infinite pleasure", “Once own, nothing can instead” or "Best toy for the children" is found on many knockoff boxes) probably caused by the fact that the people responsible for the boxes don't speak English very well and/or use a simple online translator. Many knockoffs also copy popular characters from cartoons, movies, anime, manga, video games, tv shows, comic books, etc. Some characters include Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, Goku, Naruto, Pikachu, Mario, Doraemon, Spongebob, Ben 10, Angry Birds, Avengers, Elmo, etc.
If you have a toy that has all of this characteristics then it means that it is a knockoff toy (and it can also become part of the wiki).
Keep in mind not all knockoff toys are chinafakes, and not all chinafakes are knockoff toys. Chinafakes can include any off brand/no-name toy from China, it doesn't have to be explicitly ripping off anything.
