Forum:What exactly is a chinafake?

You Choice THE GOOSE!!!
I know this question sounds stupid, but what does the word mean? I thought this word refers to types of bootlegs like bump and go toys or generic toys that play copyrighted music without the permission of the authors of the songs, but I've also seen people use the term as if it is separate from the word 'bootleg' itself?? For example, I saw some one comment on a video of a Fuzzy Wonderz toy asking if it was a chinafake. Also, do generic toys like Robbie the Robot and Parrobot or other bootleg interactive toys belong on this wiki? I just don't want to go adding pages for bootleg toys on here that don't belong.

Sorry, don't know if this is the correct way to reply, but if someone has said that doesn't that mean that furby fakes belong here too?? And do fake figurines belong here (only asking because space boys 3 is here and it doesn't have any electronic functions by the looks of it)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is how you reply. Also, the uploader of the Fuzzy Wonderz vid told the person they didn't know if it was a Chinafake or not. And also, I really don't know if bootleg figures belong here.

Imo i'd just say chinafake = any toy made that infringes copyright in some way/made to imitate another product, so i guess it would fit???

I think I agree with that definition. Vocaloli 1998 (talk) 06:06, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
