Funny Crawl Spider, also known as Toy Octopus (玩具八爪鱼) in Chinese, is a toy made by Chuang Fa Toys. It is a ripoff of TOMY's Webster the Spider.

Appearance edit

The toy comes in two different versions:

Funny Crawl Spider edit

This version resembles a spider with a pink tongue, blue eyes, and shoes that can be either red with white laces or yellow with red laces. It has two antennae made by springs with plastic spheres at the end that have LED’s inside.

Both old gen and the new gen can come in five different variants:

  • Blue with a red and white bowtie
  • Yellow with a red and yellow bowtie
  • Pink with a yellow and red bowtie
  • Red with a yellow and red bowtie
  • Orange with a yellow and red bowtie
  • Green with a red and white bowtie

Linkman edit

This version looks exactly like Funny Crawl Spider, but is soccer-themed. It resembles a soccer ball, has a red tongue and blue eyes, and wears a white and red bowtie and white shoes with small soccer balls on top.

It can come in three different variants:

  • Golden with purple hexagons
  • White with blue hexagons
  • Silver with Gold hexagons
  • White with black hexagons

Functions edit

When turned on, the toy moves around with bump and go action. It moves its eyes side to side, its eyelids move up and down, and its legs front and back while its antennaes light up aswell as the mouth moving.

Songs edit

Each Funny Crawl Spider can play a different song depending on its color. This songs are:

  • "The Ketchup Song (Aserejé)" by Las Ketchup (red variant)
  • "Shu Ya Zi" (blue variant)
  • "Kiss (When the Sun Don't Shine)" by Vengaboys (red variant, blue variant and yellow variant)
  • "Ievan Polkka" by Hatsune Miku (orange variant) (new gen?)
  • "吉祥三宝" by Chandman Erdene (pink variant)
  • "The Cup of Life" by Ricky Martin (Linkman) (NOTE: all Linkman variants play this song)

Due to the lack of footage, it's unknown what song the green variants play. It’s also unknown if any older variants play Candyman by Aqua, but other ChuangFa toys playing Candyman may suggest that these do as well.

Trivia edit

  • There are 2 other toys called "Seabed Wizard" and "Wonderful toys" which have a very similar design to Funny Crawl Spider.
  • Some Funny Crawl Spider boxes don’t have the ChuangFa logo on them, a Football Kid box exists that also doesn't have a logo. these logoless versions are presumed to be ChuangFa's leftover stock they sold to another company to be distributed in other countries. These particular variants are very rare and obscure.
  • The toy’s Chinese name means “Toy Octopus” however, the toy isn’t a octopus, and octopuses don't have antennas... and shoelaces?
  • There is a wind up that shares design similarities to Funny Crawl Spider, this one has a moulded face and is not made by ChuangFa,.The company that made the wind up is currently unknown.
  • There are 2 generations of Funny Crawl Spiders, the original ones were manufactured in 2002 and are quite low quality (which seems to be the theme with old knockoffs in the early 2000’s) and aren’t as shiny, and the new gen ones are from 2007-2011 and are higher quality with more shininess.
  • There are 6 box variants, the first one is the 1st Gen box, also know as the original, the second gen with the old logo, the second gen with the new logo, a white box that has a different layout, and another one with a different name and box layout, and the last one with linkman on the box and a different logo it’s unknown if the 4th one is by ChuangFa are not, but the 2 last ones seems to be a modern-ish clone…
